CULTURAL MATERIALISM
A macro-social theory that attempts to account for the similarities and differences between sociocultural systems by focusing on the environmental constraints to which human action is subject. Your instructor uses a variant of this theory constantly (see also SOCIOCULTURAL MATERIALISM).
